Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business Remake is a remake of the expansion for the first Tomb Raider. It was released on 10 April, 2007. It was created by ggctuk and updated on 18 March, 2008 to include new features.

The levels are played in the same order as originally intended (with Atlantis occuring first), and also includes Lara's Home, which was based on the mansion featured in Tomb Raider II. In keeping with the style set up in Tomb Raider: Revised, there are new areas in some of the levels.

  • A flyby introduces the main area in Atlantean Stronghold

  • An extra area involving an underwater pyramid and several tombs is added to Temple of the Cat, as well as an ending flyby.

[edit] Second Remake

    • More rooms have been added to the mansion.
    • The Assault course, having not been present in the first Tomb Raider, is absent.

  • A puzzle involving a pyramid which was cut from the first game has been restored. The teleporter will not be reappearing.
  • General changes to the texturing and lighting have been made, and new objects have been used.

[edit] Reception

Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business Remake has received mixed criticism, with players praising the fact that Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business can now be played on modern computers, while criticising the retention of the original texturing, and the high health of enemies. In response, ggctuk released a patch on 18 March, 2008, to lower the health of the enemies and add other bug-fixes and enhancements.

[edit] Future

At the end of May 2009, ggctuk announced that he would be postponing another project, Tomb Raider: Remnants to work on an enhanced version of Unfinished Business. Unlike the currently-available version, several areas which were abandoned in the original or reincorporated into later areas, will be re-added. Several rooms present in the original would also be removed or rearranged to better represent the original game. ggctuk also announced that the remake would be the first in a "quadrilogy" that both continued from the story of Tomb Raider and also suberted the storylines of both Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Underworld.
